Canada Visa Application Process

Updates to Canadian Visas

Nowadays, in order to get a visa or any permission to enter Canada you will have to provide fingerprints and photos (biometric data).

The new requirements apply when obtaining tourist visas, work permits, permanent residence, studies, or refugee status. Biometrics does not need to be taken for children under 14 years old and adults over the age of 79 years.

Data will be collected once every 10 years, regardless of how long the visa is issued. The new rules apply to all countries that do not have a visa-free regime with Canada.

Requirements for supporting documents

All documents submitted in support of the visa application must be submitted in French or English or accompanied by translations into one of these languages. Translations must be done by a professional translator and certified by the seal of the translation bureau. Notarized translation is not required. Translations cannot be made by the applicant or a member of his/her family.

The list of mandatory documents for obtaining a visitor's visa to Canada does not include medical insurance. However medical insurance significantly increases the chances of obtaining a visa. The insurance policy must be issued for the entire period of stay in Canada and coverage should be at least $ 40,000.

When applying for a visa, it is necessary to prove to the immigration service that the applicant has a good reason to travel to Canada, but no reason to stay in the country longer than the validity of the visa. It is essential to show that the applicant will return to his country of residence by providing copies of documents of real estate, marriage certificate, birth certificates of children, etc. When applying online, these documents must be scanned and attached electronically to the application in accordance with the instructions of the system.

The consular department of the Canadian Embassy is entitled to request additional documents or invite the applicant for an interview. The applicant must abide by the instructions of the consulate, otherwise the visa will be refused..

Helpful hints

Yes, regardless of the purpose of the visit, to stay in the country you will need to obtain permission at the embassy.

Be extremely honest. To avoid refusal, it is best to provide genuine information about your purpose of visit from the get-go. The birth visa is in the same category as the guest visa. With obvious signs of pregnancy, it will be ridiculous to declare a huge desire for a transatlantic voyage. This may be one of the reasons for the subsequent veto on entry. Canadians value honesty, therefore the slightest suspicion of submitting false information reduces your chances of achieving the desired result.

Renewal. If the main purpose of your stay in Canada is qualified medical care, the doctor may recommend for an additional treatment process, which may prologue your stay for 1-6+ months. In this case, you may need to contact the migration service again in order to extend your permission to stay in the country. If you concealed your true intentions before you get a visa to Canada, you might be refused, in turn jeopardizing your entire medical treatment plan.
